The fabled town of Villanueva de los Castillejos is the perfect backdrop to Ca l’Isabel, which offers a place of rest and serenity at the heart of the town’s central area. The construction of Ca l’Isabel dates back to approximately 1768, after the earthquake in Lisbon in 1755. It is for this same reason that the architecture of the town’s private buildings acquired a style of complete similarity between them in terms of facades e.g. small windows, doors overlooking the courtyard, white walls and balconies full of flowers. Ca l’Isabel has 200m2 of living space, which is divided into individual areas. Situated on the ground floor, Ca I’Isabel facilitates all types of visitors, including children, the elderly and the disabled, due to the omission of stairs and easy access entry.

The interior of the house is a clear hybrid between the classic design styles of the area. A sentimental nod to Andalucia can be noted in the traditional ceramic dishes that adorn the white walls, as well as with the furniture, storage elements and the luscious botanicals. The actual construction of the house, however, lends itself more towards the Mudejar style, which is characterized by the use of brick and plaster. In addition, there is a strong influence from North Africa with many Arabesque objects found throughout.
Without a doubt, this space is the jewel of the house and at the centre lies a beautiful wishing well full of flowers and green foliage. This delightful garden has proven to be a highlight for guests, with many describing it as one of the best experiences of their trip.
Both in the town and its surroundings, you can find markets or family-run businesses with fresh and seasonal produce. Known for its high-quality meat and fish, it is possible to simply buy your evening meal and cook it in the public barbeque area. Accessible to everyone, it is pure pleasure to cook outdoors at your own rhythm and in a friendly environment.
Whether returning from an evening meal or coming back from a horse riding excursion, the chill-out area is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
This comfortable corner is a place to read, listen to music or just do absolutely nothing. Probably the best thing to do is to simply lie back in the hammock under the orange tree, and drift off to the sounds and smells of this tranquil haven.
In the evening, enjoy the patio by candlelight and be seduced by the perfume of Jasmine and the dulcet tones of Spanish guitar.
